You’re not alone! An update overnight to the iOS app has seen users unable to find the log out button. So far there have been no reports of the missing button on Android devices.
Instagram have confirmed the logout issue via their twitter page claiming that it is simply a bug.
There is a workaround to log out of the app that involves logging in via your browser and changing your password. You can see the full guide here.
Instagram also have a major update in the works which will change the way posts are displayed. Instagram will sort posts based on “the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting, and the timeliness of the post.”This has a lot of small businesses so worried that their posts will be buried at the bottom below the larger brands, someone has created a change.org petition that in only 1 week has received over 320,000 signatures. #keepinstagramchronological
Instagram have also been paying some attention to their previously neglected desktop version adding a notifications and explore section which makes it a lot easier to see what is going on within your account, without having to open the app on your phone.
UPDATE: Instagram have released a new version of their app and the log out button is back! There was no mention of it in their change log. It’s pretty hard to believe how such a big error could go unnoticed by one of the largest social media networks in the world.
